In celebration of Women’s Month, TSPI invited women to a transformative event meant to uplift and empower women entrepreneurs. The TSPI Sambayanihan Center Tondo branch’s “Babae Bilang Negosyante” Seminar was held on March 23, 2024 at the Better World Smokey Mountain, Brgy. 128 in Tondo, Manila.
The gathering brought together 59 women for one shared goal: to gain the tools, inspiration, and support needed to begin or grow their respective businesses. With an emphasis on synergy, the event became an active space where dreams were nurtured, visions were clarified, and confidence was built.
The program was thoughtfully designed to address women’s mind, body, soul, and spirit. It began with spiritual sustenance from Pastor Duane Garcera, Ministry Partner of TSPI Tondo branch.

Practical guidance followed as Anna Marie dela Torre, Manager for Corporate Affairs and Marketing of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Philippines stimulated their entrepreneurial leanings with important concepts and practical advice on marketing and entrepreneurship. Among the topics she discussed were: effective product sales;the 4Ps of product, price, place, and promotion; the 4Cs of customer-centered, cost, convenience, and communication; passionate love for business; self-confidence; visions for future of business; and planning business SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound).
The women also engaged in small group discussions, where they forged deeper connections and gained valuable insights from each other through a hands-on vision board activity. They reflected on the present state of affairs, visualized their goals and aspirations for the future, and laid out concrete steps to achieve them. The creative process excited the women, facing the possibility of transforming their conceptual dreams into actionable plans.
TSPI client Nanay Gina Estinor Antonio of Center 93, who runs her own food stall, spoke about the struggles she faced in starting her own business. She shared how she was able to weather the challenges that came her way. She found a catalyst of hope through the TSPI MBAI microinsurance claim, which she used as seed money to start her own business. Her cheerful disposition and service with a smile exemplify what faith, support, and determination can accomplish. Her story of overcoming adversity moved and inspired the women in attendance to maintain a positive outlook and cope with challenges.
The event underscored the power of community and collaboration. The women were encouraged to build synergy. It was an event steeped in empowerment, with women supporting each other, growing together, and holding each other accountable. Overall, it was a truly nurturing activity.
