Annual Report 2022
ABOUT THE COVER
“Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20: 28)
Jesus washing the feet of His disciples during the Last Supper was an act of humility. With a towel around his waist and a basin, He offered to do the lowly work of servants, presaging His ultimate act of humility and love on the Cross. The moment, recollected on Maundy Thursday, inspired TSPI’s 41st anniversary theme, “Serve like Jesus,” as TSPI President Rene E. Cristobal enjoined employees. “
After surviving the challenge of the pandemic, by God’s faithfulness, the theme is a timely reminder that we are in TSPI to serve unselfishly,” he said. “We feel God’s love and bear witness to it. So, we pass on the blessing to our fellowmen—selflessly— without expectation. The theme is also a way of reminding and reassuring our clients that we are here to serve them.”
The statue in the cover, created by renowned sculptor Ed Castrillo in 2010, was discovered by TSPI Executive Director Alice Z. Cordero in a cabinet in the basement of the TSPI premises. She brought it out of storage, had it cleaned and
displayed as a reminder of one of TSPI’s core values.

ABOUT THE COVER
An organization’s strength is often attributed to the level of commitment, competence, and persistence of its people through the years. But in the case of TSPI celebrating this very meaningful milestone during the pandemic, the truth became even more crystal clear: it is God who remained steadfast to the organization since its founding 40 years ago.
The cover features two important symbols that depict God’s faithfulness to TSPI. The flowing stream that symbolizes abundance and continuity conveys TSPI’s ability to provide its programs and services to its clients and meet their essential needs, in any circumstance. The dove that represents the Holy Spirit, the source of Divine leading, communicates that it is God Himself guiding TSPI employees and leading its clients towards fullness of life.

ABOUT THE COVER
TSPI’ culture of Sama-samang Responsibilidad (SSR) or collective responsibility is driven by the spirit of God’s love and care for one another. The cover shows the sketch of the TSPI Sambayanihan sculpture made by the renowned Filipino artist Eduardo Castrillo in 2011. It represents the TSPI SSR culture, the spirit that fuels the unwavering commitment of the organization to reach out to the less privileged and of the clients to help and uplift one another. In so doing, TSPI works as “one body with many parts” with Christ as the head. It shows a masterpiece of strength, displayed through the value of working together towards the mission of bringing good news and hope to the communities. Most of all, with the desire to glorify God, (“samba”), everyone serves with honor, dignity and gratefulness (“bayanihan”). Pressing on towards the mission, no matter what the odds may be.

ABOUT THE COVER
SAMBAYANIHAN – a word formed by combining samba (worship) and bayanihan (community spirit), denotes the theme of this Annual Report. It expresses TSPI’s call for staff, clients, Management, Board of Trustees and partners to come together in bringing good news to the poor through its lending and microinsurance, microenterprise development programs- all for the glory of God.
Samba equates service to other with giving glory to God. This is what we state in our pledge, “Higit sa lahat, hangarin kong bigyan ng papuri ang Diyos (Above all, our purpose is to give glory to God)”. It is commander in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it for the glory of God.”
Bayanihan embodies the deeper meaning of sama-samang responsibilidad (collective responsibility). Beyond lending and microinsurance, TSPI gives its staff and clients the opportunity “to demonstrate love and service in their community” through activities beneficial to the clients and their families. This is the core of TSPI’s mission.
